The Alliance of Global Privacy Solution Providers (“the Alliance”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of its website visitors and customers. This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) explains our data collection and use practices.
Collection of Personal Data
The Alliance collects personal data by fair and lawful means, and only for the purposes identified in this Notice. The Alliance collects personal data through registration for Alliance events. The Alliance also collects personal data when visitors to the website complete the contact form or communicate with us by email or social media, or sign up to participate in surveys. The Alliance may also collect data on this website through the use of “cookies”, as more fully described below.
Processing of Personal Data
The Alliance processes the personal data provided for the purposes of:
- Registering conference and event attendees;
- Lead generation;
- Facilitating participation in surveys; and
- Responding to enquiries and requests.
Disclosure to Third Parties
Except as specified in this section, the Alliance does not share or sell personal data about its event attendees or requestors to any third parties. Although very unlikely, in some instances, such as lawful order by law enforcement, the Alliance may be required to disclose certain personal data to authorities. In such cases, only the personal data specifically requested will be disclosed and the Alliance shall take reasonable precautions to satisfy ourselves that the authorities who are making the request have legitimate grounds to do so. Data may also be transferred to NetSuite, our email provider, and CanHost, our web hosting provider.
Third Party Websites
This Notice is applicable only to the Alliance and its website. The website includes links to Alliance member websites, and such websites are not governed by this Notice. It is suggested that you review the privacy policies of those parties on their websites to learn how your personal data may be collected, used and disclosed when interacting with those websites.
The Alliance will destroy or erase personal data once it is no longer needed. Personal data about event registration will only be retained until the end of the event. Personal data received when you communicate with the Alliance will be retained for 6 months or as long as necessary to follow-up on the communication.
The Alliance will respond to your requests to exercise your rights, such as the right of access, rectification, objection, and erasure, within statutory time frames. Upon request, the Alliance will inform you of the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal data and shall give access to that personal data. You may challenge the accuracy and /or completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate. If for some reason, the request is denied, the Alliance will inform you of the reasons for such.
The Alliance protects personal data through reasonable organizational, technical and physical safeguards. Personal data is protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Notwithstanding that the Alliance has security safeguards in place to protect personal data, you are always encouraged to take measures to protect yourself against unintended intrusions to your personal privacy (e.g., by minimizing the amount of personal data provided in the text field of contact forms).
